Perley H. Grimes, Jr.- Partner

A Partner with the firm for more than 40 years, Attorney Perley H. Grimes, Jr. brings a natural curiosity to his work, allowing him to develop the most effective strategy for each case within his primary Practice Areas of Estate Planning, Probate & Trust Administration, Real Estate Law, Municipal Law, and Land Use Law.

Attorney Grimes approaches each aspect of his practice with a discipline, caring and rigor naturally arising from his enthusiasm for his profession. He is known for clearly communicating with his clients and jointly developing a suitable approach to achieving their goals.

Whether that involves changes to a real estate contract, developing a strategy to obtain zoning approval for a commercial project, outlining an efficient and sound estate plan, securing the resolution of a contested estate, or amending an ordinance or regulation, Attorney Grimes summons broad experience, energy and persistence to see each matter through to a successful conclusion.

This high level of advocacy for clients is built on a foundation of the collaborative and interdisciplinary approach among attorneys at Cramer & Anderson, which Attorney Grimes has fostered as one of the firm’s most senior Partners.

Attorney Grimes joined the firm as an Associate in 1969, becoming a Partner in 1974. After an initial 20 years with an emphasis in Civil Litigation, his practice evolved to its current concentrations. Attorney Grimes’ work in these areas is widely known and recognized.

Throughout his career, Attorney Grimes has appreciated the intellectual challenges and continual variety involved in his Land Use, Planning and Zoning and Municipal Law practices. His work has taken him across Litchfield County and much of northwestern Connecticut, interpreting the diverse sets of zoning regulations in various towns and helping his clients achieve their land-use goals.

He has lived in Litchfield since 1969 with his wife, Karen, where they have raised three children.
