Congress Votes to make Tax Incentive for Conservation Easement Donations Permanent

In a 65-33 bipartisan US Senate vote that followed passage by the House of Representives, Congress passed a bill on Friday, December 18 that makes the tax incentive for conservation easement donations permanent. The tax incentive encourages land preservation by offering a tax off-set to the donor’s income taxes over an extended period.  Passage is billed as a win for conservation, land trusts and land owners.
