Attorney Lisa Rivas Featured on Connecticut Law Tribune Front-Page Story

The Connecticut Law Tribune featured a front-page story on Cramer & Anderson Attorney Lisa Rivas in its edition for the week of June 13, highlighting her pro bono work helping immigrants in Greater Danbury become U.S. citizens.

“Not only do immigrants have to show they have a basic command of the English language to become a U.S. citizen, they must pass a civics test. It involves studying 100 questions and then correctly answering six out of 10 posed to them,” the Connecticut Law Tribune story says in explaining part of the process. “An applicant may be asked to name one of their state’s current U.S. senators, name one American Indian tribe, or describe what happened on Sept. 11, 2001, for example.”

Attorney Rivas, who works in the firm’s Danbury office, was honored by the Hispanic Center of Greater Danbury at this year’s annual Citizens Recognition Breakfast, held June 2. She received the Above and Beyond Award for her volunteer work teaching a citizenship course.

“We want our associates to get out in the community and share their talents and experience,” Cramer & Anderson Senior Partner Ken Taylor told the Connecticut Law Tribune. “She does a lot of volunteer work on behalf of the center. She ends up being a bridge between the immigrant community and the community at large. She has a warm personality, and she gives people the confidence to get out there and reach their potential.”

Attorney Rivas may be reached by phone in the Danbury office at 203-744-1234, or by email at lrivas@crameranderson.com. For more information on the firm, see the Cramer & Anderson website or call the New Milford office at 860-355-2631.
