Attorney Weinshank to Discuss Charitable Planned Giving at Ridgefield VNA

Cramer & Anderson Partner Joshua Weinshank

Attorney Joshua Weinshank, a Trust and Estate Partner with Cramer & Anderson LLP, will present a program on the benefits of charitable planned giving May 11 at the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association (RVNA).

Certified Public Accountant Greg Pepin of Reynolds + Rowella, the accounting and consulting firm with offices in Ridgefield and New Canaan, will join Attorney Weinshank in a presentation covering the benefits of charitable giving, how to maximize charitable bequests through tax efficiency, and other issues related to planned giving.

The program, which begins at 5:30 p.m., is free and open to the public. Complimentary light food and refreshments will be provided.

The RVNA is hosting the event in part to enhance its role as a community resource, especially given that it opened a large new outpatient rehabilitation center this past December at its 22,000-square-foot Center for Exceptional Care at 27 Governor St. in Ridgefield.

The RVNA, a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1914, has a Planned Giving page on its website, which says in part: “Planned giving involves providing for a future gift to a charity through your financial and estate plans. Choosing the right planned gift depends on your personal circumstances and financial goals. Whatever option you choose – a simple bequest, a beneficiary designation, a charitable gift annuity, or a charitable trust – planned gifts offer you a creative, strategic way to support RVNA far into the future while also providing you with tax and other benefits.”

Those who plan to attend the May 11 presentation are asked to RSVP by calling Alice Meenan, Director of Donor Relations for the RVNA, at 203-438-5555, ext. 1028. Signing up is not strictly necessary, however, and members of the community may attend without registering in advance.

The RVNA’s mission is to provide exceptional home and community health care services, support public health and safety and promote the highest quality of life. Its staff of nearly 300 provides those services in an expansive coverage area, encompassing 28 towns and extending south to Weston and Westport, north to New Milford and northeast to Southbury and Woodbury.

Attorney Weinshank, who was made Partner in December 2016, advises clients on ways to effectively and efficiently preserve and create intergenerational wealth by addressing their tax and personal concerns. His experience in the area of probate law, and estate and trust administration, has earned him a winning record representing beneficiaries and fiduciaries in contested probate proceedings in the Connecticut Probate Courts.

Earlier this year, Attorney Weinshank was named to the Associate Board of the Danbury Hospital & New Milford Hospital Foundation. Directors on the board partner with Foundation staff to foster charitable giving in support of the mission of the hospitals and their parent entity, Western Connecticut Health Network.

Attorney Weinshank, who makes community-minded activism a priority, was appointed in 2016 to the new Planned Giving Committee formed by Ability Beyond, the pioneering Bethel-based organization that “helps thousands of people with physical and mental disabilities discover their abilities and become a part of their communities.” He is now Co-Chair of the committee.

A resident of Ridgefield, Attorney Weinshank works primarily in Cramer & Anderson’s Danbury office. He may be reached by email at jweinshank@crameranderson.com and by phone at (203) 744-1234.
