Cramer & Anderson is once again participating in the United Way of Northwest Connecticut’s Stock the Shelves food drive.
The firm’s effort, led by Litchfield office Paralegal Peggy C. Geddes, includes donation collection bins that will remain in the lobbies of the Litchfield and New Milford offices throughout November.
“As you know, it is more important than ever to help when we can during this difficult time,” Geddes said in an email to attorneys and staff. “Everything is needed. They will accept non-perishable food items, personal items, grocery gift cards, and monetary donations.”
This fall, the food drive participation expanded from the Litchfield office to include the New Milford office, according to Geddes, whose husband, Realtor Jeff Geddes, is one of the founders of Stock the Shelves.
The donations collected in the two offices will be distributed to food panties in Litchfield County or to anyone in need.
“Right now, 5,318 families in Northwest Connecticut rely on food assistance — totaling more than $376,000 in support each month,” an Oct. 31 United Way of Northwest Connecticut Facebook post explained.
“As costs rise and benefits decline, many of our neighbors are struggling to keep food on the table,” the post said. “Through Stock the Shelves, every dollar you give stays right here in our local communities — helping families in towns like Torrington, Winsted, Litchfield, North Canaan, and beyond.”
In addition to donating non-perishable food and other items, those who want to help can donate money toward the Stock the Shelves effort.
