Cramer & Anderson’s New Milford office is participating in the New Milford Parks & Recreation Halloween Trunk or Treat event on and around the Green Saturday, Oct. 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Partners Lisa Rivas and Jennifer Collins will be dressed as two of the Sanderson Sisters, those charmingly malicious witches from “Hocus Pocus” and “Hocus Pocus 2,” as they hand out candy to trick-or-treaters outside the office at 51 Main St. across from the Green.
The firm’s flagship office is located in the historic Elijah Boardman House, built in 1793 for the prominent businessman and U.S. Senator Elijah Boardman. According to “Edith Newtown’s New Milford,” published by the New Milford Historical Society, the house remained in the Boardman family into the 1930s and was purchased by Cramer & Anderson in 1973.
“We love to participate in community events and thought it would be fun to be part of Trunk or Treat,” said Attorney Rivas, who practices Immigration Law and lives with her family in New Milford. “It also feels like there’s a synergy from the fact that our building is a repository of notable ghosts of history, so to speak.”
Main Street on both sides of the New Milford Green will be closed from 4 to 8 p.m. for Trunk or Treat. The “Thriller” zombie flash mob will perform at 6:30 p.m., on the Green (after the “Monster Mash” song). Participants are asked to go through the Trunk or Treat circuit once to make sure there’s enoughcandy for everyone.
Earlier the same day, there’s another event, Halloween on the Green, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sponsored by the Town of New Milford, it features games and activities for children, music by DJ Beth, a Monster Petting Zoo, and the town’s Halloween Costume Parade at 2 p.m. Downtown businesses will be participating in trick-or-treat, signaled by the display of paper pumpkins in their windows.
