Most Connecticut towns and cities dress up for the holidays with festive lights and other seasonal flourishes, but few are as charming as New Milford. The expansive town green, historic buildings and hometown shops combine to create a magical atmosphere in the town center.
Amid that holiday glow, the New Milford VNA & Hospice will hold its annual Sip & Stroll event Dec. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m.

It’s a fun evening when the more than 300 expected guests will stroll along the charming streets, visit participating shops and enjoy select wines and beers, along with “nibbling on delicious delights” and taking advantage of special holiday shopping discounts. Tickets are $25 each and available online.
Cramer & Anderson, whose flagship office is located in New Milford, is a Sip & Stroll Partner—and not simply because the event strengthens the town’s sense of community and supports the VNA, a vital nonprofit organization.
Sip & Stroll is a fundraiser for the VNA’s Camp Jonathan, a bereavement camp for children held each July at Saint John’s Episcopal Church on the Green in New Milford.
“Children express grief differently from adults,” the VNA says on its website, explaining that Camp Jonathan offers “a unique one-week experiential summer day camp for children and teens ages 6 through 18 who have experienced the death of a loved one.”
If anyone needs an incentive to attend the Sip & Stroll beyond the food, wine, good cheer and shopping discounts, the VNA sums it up like this: “Together we can make a difference in the life of a Camp Jonathan child.”
