Cramer & Anderson Supports Camella’s Cupboard Food Pantry

Cramer & Anderson Partner Graham Moller dropping off the firm’s annual donation to Camella’s Cupboard Food Pantry for Children.

Cramer & Anderson Partner Graham Moller dropped off the firm’s annual donation to Camella’s Cupboard Food Pantry for Children in New Milford on Nov. 20.

This year’s donation consisted of diapers, milk, water, snacks, and food, and it was larger than last year’s due to the increased need this season.

“While we live and work in a beautiful part of Connecticut, that can mask the fact that many families face issues of food insecurity and other challenges on a daily basis,” said Partner Lisa Rivas, who oversees the firm’s seasonal donation efforts. “Helping our neighbors is a priority for Cramer & Anderson, and one that seems especially important this year.”

The mission of Camella’s Cupboard is to provide year-round hunger relief to children, seniors, and other vulnerable populations in the Greater New Milford. Families with children younger than 18 that find themselves in need can sign up for food assistance from Camella’s Cupboard.

What began as a summer lunch program has become a weekly food pantry distribution. On Fridays, each child in participating families receives a food bag with child friendly items that can be consumed with little or no adult supervision. Each family unit receives 50 to 70 pounds of dairy, protein, produce, bread, and greens.

Camella’s Cupboard also offers in-school food pantries at New Milford High School and Schaghticoke Middle School, as well as Home Delivery for homebound families, seniors and those with disabilities, and Blessing Boxes, which are 24/7 micro food pantries that can be accessed anonymously at any time.

In September, Cramer & Anderson donated $500 to the Daily Bread Food Pantry in Danbury, continuing the annual support for the nonprofit that distributes food free of charge and has welcomed those in need, whatever their background or circumstances, since 1984.

In a separate effort led by Litchfield office Paralegal Peggy C. Geddes, the firm is also participating in the United Way of Northwest Connecticut’s Stock the Shelves food drive. Donation collection bins were scheduled to remain in the lobbies of the Litchfield and New Milford offices throughout November, but the need this season and positive response from United Way to the firm’s donations prompted a decision to continue the drive through December.

See the In the Community section on the firm’s website for information on other donations and community involvement.
