Dennis W. Bishop – Partner
Dennis W. Bishop is a partner in the firm’s Ridgefield office and focuses his practice in the areas of Business, Corporate and Commercial Law. Drawing on his diverse legal and business background, Attorney Bishop advises corporate clients in connection with a wide variety of commercial transactions, corporate formation, business and contract matters, mergers & acquisitions, lending and commercial finance and general corporate and regulatory compliance issues.
Attorney Bishop has represented an array of domestic and multinational corporate clients across various industries including financial services, technology, manufacturing and consumer and industrial goods including software, electronics, automotive, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, personal care, health care and home care.
Attorney Bishop’s experience prior to joining Cramer & Anderson includes practicing law in the Business & Finance Group at the New York offices of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, where he counseled clients on domestic and international commercial transactions and mergers & acquisitions. He also practiced in the Corporate & Banking / Project Finance Group at the Washington, D.C., offices of Winston & Strawn, where he represented financial institutions, business enterprises, and government entities throughout the world in a variety of matters including project finance, lending and commercial finance, mergers & acquisitions, equipment leasing, software licensing and information technology.
In addition to his private law practice experience, Attorney Bishop previously served as Chief Commercial Counsel for the Colgate-Palmolive Company, based in Manhattan, where he provided legal counsel in connection with commercial transactions, business development, contract matters, risk management, product liability and regulatory compliance issues. Attorney Bishop has also worked as a contract specialist at United Technologies Corporation’s corporate headquarters in Connecticut, where he negotiated complex, multi-million-dollar strategic sourcing agreements, and as a procurement manager for a manufacturer of electronics and other equipment in the defense industry.
Most recently, Attorney Bishop served as Senior Counsel for the Americas and Global Head of Ethics & Compliance at OpenLink Financial, a leading trading, treasury and risk management software solutions provider serving the energy, commodities and financial services industries with offices in Manhattan. At OpenLink, he provided legal counsel in connection with global licensing and other commercial transactions and oversaw the company’s global Ethics & Compliance program.
As a result, Attorney Bishop has extensive experience preparing a wide spectrum of legal agreements, including software license agreements, software maintenance and support agreements, professional services agreements, software hosting agreements, complex statements of work, SaaS agreements, cloud services agreements, supply agreements, distribution agreements, contract manufacturing agreements, consulting agreements, confidentiality agreements, nondisclosure agreements, engagement letters, intellectual property and technology licenses, research and development agreements, equipment purchase and lease agreements, transportation and logistics agreements, real estate purchase and lease agreements, sponsorship agreements, joint venture agreements, strategic alliance agreements and limited liability company operating agreements. In addition, Attorney Bishop has designed standard commercial contract templates for a number of major domestic and multinational corporations.
A lifelong resident of Ridgefield, Attorney Bishop is an active member of the local community. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Ridgefield Playhouse, a nonprofit performing arts center presenting national and local acts and cultural hub for the town. The mission of the Ridgefield Playhouse is to entertain, enrich and educate our community and surrounding areas to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds. Attorney Bishop was recently appointed as both the Chair of the Playhouse Audit Committee and Event Director for Ridgefield BandJam, an annual talent competition for high school and middle school bands serving as a fundraiser for the benefit of the Playhouse.
Having grown up playing hockey and baseball in Ridgefield, Attorney Bishop has been active coaching both Little League Baseball and travel youth hockey for many years. He served as a Member of the Board of Directors for the Ridgefield Amateur Hockey Association (RAHA) from 2016 – 2018 and was Co-President / Director of Hockey Operations during the 2017- 2018 season. Attorney Bishop’s father founded RAHA (formerly Ridgefield Youth Hockey Association), which has served the amateur youth ice hockey community in the greater Ridgefield area as a family-oriented program for over 40 years.
In addition to his involvement with both the local youth sports and arts & entertainment communities, Attorney Bishop is a member of the Rotary Club of Ridgefield. Rotary is recognized as an engaging group of business, professional and community leaders who give their talent, time, and money to doing good work for community and international social causes. He is also a member of the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church in Ridgefield.
