Cramer & Anderson Personal Injury Partner Ryan Henry has won a Distinguished Leader award in the 2024 New England Legal Awards.
The Connecticut Law Tribune (CLT) announced the 2024 winners online July 24 and they will be honored at a Sept. 26 awards dinner at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston.
In certain categories, only finalists were announced. The winners will be named at the awards dinner.
“I am honored and humbled to accept this award,” Attorney Henry said. “I would like to thank my partners and staff for supporting my practice and serving my clients.”
The Distinguished Leader award recognizes lawyers who achieved impressive career results and demonstrated clear leadership skills that helped them achieve those results. The nomination for Attorney Henry said, in part:
Leadership is the defining quality for Cramer & Anderson Senior Partner Ryan Henry. It distinguishes the results he achieves for Personal Injury clients, defines his role in guiding growth for a firm he joined in early 2023, and inspires him to serve in larger roles dedicated to maintaining a more just society by preserving individual rights within the justice system.
In terms of results, two recent examples sum up Attorney Henry’s dedication to clients and success in delivering optimal outcomes.
Last December, Attorney Henry secured a $3,559,819.78 judgment on behalf of the estate and family of a beloved Waterbury man killed by a hit-and-run driver in 2019. The judge’s decision ordered economic damages of $79,759.10 and non-economic damages of $2 million (reduced by 25 percent to $1,559,819.32, based on a comparative negligence finding) – but also punitive noneconomic damages in the amount of $2 million.
Fellow Cramer & Anderson Partner Randy DiBella noted how rare it is for such punitive damages to be awarded – but not apparently rare for Attorney Henry.
Punitive damages also will be awarded in another of his cases, a December 2023 Superior Court verdict in favor of a plaintiff who purchased a property with a well that ran out of water nine days after the closing. The sellers had checked the “no” box on the property condition report asking if there were known problems with the well or the water quality, quantity, etc., and the buyer didn’t have a well inspection done. Attorney Henry uncovered otherwise concealed records showing the sellers had committed intentional misrepresentation and fraud, which resulted not only in an award of $19,690.12 to cover the cost for the new owner of installing a new well and water system but also a finding that the plaintiff is entitled to punitive damages to be determined to cover attorneys’ fees and costs.
As he accumulates successful outcomes, Attorney Henry has taken a leadership role … [in guiding] strategic efforts to showcase the firm’s experience in delivering results for clients across roughly 20 practice areas – at the same time he is leading an initiative to highlight the firm’s highly successful injury law practice as an engine of growth.
New England Legal Awards honorees are selected by Law.com and Connecticut Law Tribune’s editors and reporters, the CLT explained.
