Chanwon (Pio) Yoon – Associate
Chanwon (Pio) Yoon joined Cramer & Anderson in May 2020 as a Litigation Associate after graduating from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He passed the October Connecticut Bar Exam and was sworn in to the Connecticut Bar in December.
He comes to Cramer & Anderson with significant experience, including serving as a legal intern at the UConn School Of Law Asylum and Human Rights Clinic in Hartford.
Attorney Yoon was a Summer Associate with Pullman & Comley in Bridgeport in 2019, and in the summer of 2018 he divided his time between roles as a Summer Associate with Shipman & Goodwin in Hartford and a Law Clerk with The Hartford insurance company.
In 2006, he came to the U.S. from South Korea with his family and relied on counsel from an immigration attorney that hindered the process. As a result, Attorney Yoon and his sister were separated from their mother for nine months.
That experience inspired him to take up legal studies and become a trusted interpreter of the law for others.
Attorney Yoon also completed an internship in Hartford family court before law school, and there he honed his skills in serving as a bridge between the law and legal proceedings and clients’ need for a clear and simple understanding of matters. After listening to child support order cases, he would help defendants understand what the judge was ordering and how to best comply.
He deepened those interpretive skills while working at the UConn Asylum and Human Rights Clinic, and continues to translate the importance of news about legal and Constitutional issues for members of his family, breaking down reports and commentary into lay language that is clear and easy to understand.
Although he was only recently sworn in, Attorney Yoon has already taken on leadship positons in the legal community. He is Chair of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Litchfield County Bar Association, and a Director of the Connecticut Asian Pacific American Bar Association (CAPABA).
Outside the office, Attorney Yoon enjoys weightlifting at the gym, cooking, and watching football. He lives in Farmington.
