Cramer & Anderson attorneys and staff are participating in the 2024 SafeWalk to raise funds for the Danbury-based Center for Empowerment and Education (CEE) as it works to break the cycle of interpersonal violence.
To participate in SafeWalk, individuals and teams walk, run, bike or move in another way to complete the equivalent of a 4K any time over the weekend from Friday, Oct. 4, through Sunday, Oct. 6.
They collect sponsorship donations via the SafeWalk website, and the proceeds benefit the CEE’s no cost and confidential programs. “As always, the money raised from this event stays in our community and is used to support our no cost programs and services,” the website notes.
“SafeWalk has two primary goals. One is to raise funds to support the programs that The Center can offer for free to its clients. The second, equally important goal, is to raise awareness of The Center’s programs and services so that people know help is available if needed,” said SafeWalk Chair Kathy Graham of Ridgefield.
Partner Lisa Rivas is leading the firm’s SafeWalk team, the Cramer & Anderson Allstars, and encourages donations through the firm’s team page. The firm is also a Stride Sponsor of SafeWalk.
“Cramer & Anderson has long supported The Center for Empowerment and Education and the great work it does year-round in providing education, crisis intervention, and support to individuals and families as part of the battle to break the cycle of interpersonal violence,” Attorney Rivas said. “In past years, we would walk laps around the Danbury Fair Mall with other SafeWalk teams and now in the ‘virtual’ version, the firm’s team members enjoy the autumn weather as we walk near our regional offices.”
About The Center for Empowerment and Education
The CEE provides support services in the form of counseling and advocacy, crisis intervention, and emergency shelter for victims of interpersonal violence.
Its overarching mission is to break the cycle of interpersonal violence through empowerment, education and support services utilizing inclusive, trauma-informed, and client-centered practices for all individuals in the community.
“We empower individuals to find their voice and choose their path toward healing as they rebuild their lives,” the website says. “We are preventing and reducing interpersonal violence in the community through prevention education and awareness. We are reducing trauma by stopping violence from manifesting in the first place. Everyone deserves to live a life free from violence. We are here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.”
Founded as the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury in 1975, the CEE serves individuals and families in Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, and Sherman.
