Cramer & Anderson Partners Lisa Rivas and Jennifer Collins dropped off the firm’s annual donation of food to Camella’s Cupboard in New Milford on Nov. 16, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
“Camella’s Cupboard is a vital nonprofit that provides food to more than 200 families in need in Greater New Milford, including more than 500 children,” Attorney Collins said. “It’s wonderful to see the support it receives from the community – and the town government, which helped Camella’s Cupboard recently relocate to a new home in the John Pettibone Community Center on Pickett District Road.”
“The firm takes pride in making donations around the holidays and year-round. They’re all special to us, but this one stands out for helping address food insecurity, a fundamental problem that often goes unseen in our communities,” added Attorney Rivas, who lives in New Milford with her family.
Ready to unload
Families with children younger than 18 that find themselves in need can sign up for food assistance from Camella’s Cupboard if they live in New Milford and surrounding communities, including Gaylordsville, Sherman, Kent, New Preston, Washington, Bridgewater and Roxbury.
Every Friday, according to the website, each child in participating families receives a food bag with child friendly items that can be consumed with little or no adult supervision. Additionally, each family unit receives 50 to 70 pounds of dairy, protein, produce, bread, and greens.
“In addition to feeding the body, we feed the soul by providing diapers, wipes, and infant formula for those families with babies,” Camella’s Cupboard notes online. “We provide birthday bags for each child in our program, as well as special treats for holidays.”
Anyone who would like to assist Camella’s Cupboard can make a monetary donation online, or donate food.
