Mitchell J. Melnick- Partner

Mitchell J. Melnick is a partner in the firm’s New Milford office, where he provides transactional, compliance, and business planning advice to a wide variety of businesses and individuals. He has particular experience in corporate mergers, the acquisition and sale of businesses, as well as in the formation of tax-exempt organizations and obtaining tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service. He serves as general and special counsel to a number of businesses, providing general business advice, regulatory and compliance support, assistance in corporate, limited liability company, and limited liability partnership formations, planning and structuring, and contract preparation.

He also serves as a Director of The Lawrence J. Portell and Natalie D. Portell Foundation, Inc., and has coordinated the charitable giving by that foundation to a variety of Connecticut-based tax-exempt organizations. He also counsels and consults for many of the tax-exempt organizations that he assisted in forming and obtaining tax-exempt status. He has been with Cramer & Anderson since 1996.

Prior to joining the firm, Melnick practiced law in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for more than 10 years, where he focused on corporate law, securities law, mergers and acquisitions. He is still licensed to practice law in Florida and frequently provides counsel to businesses located in Florida and outside Florida relative to Florida matters. He is also a member of the Bar in the District of Columbia.
