Cramer & Anderson donated $460 this year to the United Way’s Back-to-School initiative for Greater New Milford, continuing a tradition that began in 2002.
Contributions from attorneys and staff enabled the firm to donate $100 gift cards to four students in need. The remaining $60 was applied to miscellaneous school supplies.
“The 32nd annual Back-to-School in Greater New Milford was a success! More than 250 area children received backpacks filled with school supplies and $100 gift cards for new school clothes and shoes,” the United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut said in an Aug. 16 Facebook post. “Thank you to all our wonderful donors and volunteers. Because of you, children in Greater New Milford will be able to enter school ready to succeed.”
“It’s vital for students to begin the new school year with the clothes, shoes, and supplies they need to feel positive and empowered. We’re honored to participate and deeply appreciate United Way’s dedication to making a difference in ways that literally can be life-changing,” said Jeremy Ruman, legal assistant to Partner Art Weinshank, who coordinated the firm’s fundraising effort.
United Way of Western CT and United Way of Coastal Fairfield County recently joined forces to become the United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut and “create a greater impact in our communities.”
The unified effort reaches 27 communities with United Way’s mission “to improve the lives of hardworking households by mobilizing the resources of local communities to create lasting change.”
Ensuring that every child enters school ready to learn, every family is financially stable, and every community is healthy and strong are the key components of that mission.
United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut serves more than 25 percent of the state’s population in a service area that includes four cities – Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk, and Stamford – and 23 towns: Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Kent, Monroe, New Canaan, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Sherman, Stratford, Trumbull, Warren, Washington, Westport, Wilton, and Weston.
