Cramer & Anderson has welcomed three outstanding law students as the firm’s 2023 Summer Associates.
Bharbara Viegas-Rocha of Danbury will be entering her third year at Quinnipiac University School of Law. She graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2018 and participated in a summer legal studies program at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, in 2022.
“As I end my 2L year, I’m immensely grateful for the many experiences that have marked my path so far,” Viegas-Rocha wrote on LinkedIn. “Serving as a judicial extern at the U.S. District Court in New Haven was a significant milestone. This opportunity deepened my understanding of judicial decision-making and significantly contributed to my professional growth.”
Selected as a student prosecutor for the Quinnipiac Law Prosecution Appellate Clinic, which begins in August, Viegas-Rocha will be assigned a criminal appeal pending before the Connecticut Appellate Court and tasked with reviewing trial court files, reading trial transcripts, researching, and writing the state’s brief for the assigned appeal.
Garrett Oliver, a Goshen resident, graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in May and is headed to the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law.
He is a member of the UConn Law Society and has served as an intern for the Connecticut Republican State Central Committee.
“In my first few weeks as a summer associate at Cramer & Anderson, I’ve learned a great deal about the legal process by, among other things, conducting legal research and document review for ongoing cases,” Oliver said. “I am thrilled to be around so many brilliant and kind people, and I look forward to continuing my work with the firm.”
Gina DiVito of Waterbury, who graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, expects to receive her Juris Doctorate in May 2024 from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
She has been a Housing Clinic Summer Fellow of the Jerome M. Frank Legal Services Organization of Yale Law School, representing low-income individuals facing foreclosure and evictions in Connecticut Superior Court and Appellate Court – as well as a Legislative Research & Social Media Marketing Intern for the League of Women Voters of Connecticut.
“I am thrilled to be working at Cramer & Anderson as a Summer Associate,” DiVito said, adding, “I am grateful to have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of practice areas and learn from all the attorneys at the firm. I can’t wait to continue to learn and grow throughout this experience.”
Cramer & Anderson’s Summer Associates will conduct legal research, as well as drafting motions, pleadings, memorandums, and other legal documents. As part of the firm’s mentorship efforts, they will be exposed to a variety of practice areas.
“We always have a great group of Summer Associates and this year’s group shows exceptional promise,” said Partner Jennifer Collins, who oversees the firm’s summer enrichment program with Partner Lisa Rivas. “These three law students are poised to do great things in their careers and Cramer & Anderson is proud to help nourish their growth with meaningful hands-on experience.”
“Happy to be one of the Summer Associates at Cramer & Anderson LLP this year! Grateful for the opportunity to learn from such a unique and experienced group of legal professionals,” Viegas-Rocha wrote on LinkedIn, summing up the sentiment of the 2023 Summer Associates.
